Tara, husband Derek and their newly adopted teen sons, own/operate Cloud 9 Ranch near Steinbach, Manitoba. Having recently become a mom, Tara spends her remaining time as Equine Specialist on the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy team, teaching Western and English riding and vaulting lessons, judging, giving clinics, and training a few horses. God is giving her a desire to make more meaningful connections with people by showing her that life's struggles are training for a bigger purpose, that is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to show people that God is Love and He wants a relationship with the children he has created, YOU! Eager to use her experiences of childhood trauma, cancer, adoption of teen boys from foster system, etc. coupled together with what a life time of horses and God have taught her, she is passionate to help others let go of their stress, however that looks in their life, and find peace.
Having a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science coupled with her interest in Dr. Stephen Peter's work on How the Horse's Brain Works and Dr Gabor Mate's work with Attachment, ADHD and Addictions, makes for fascinating science discoveries that help make the world make sense, even from a biblical view.
Tara, now in her early 40's, grew up riding and showing horses her entire life competing in all the classes at Open and AQHA shows. She also spent a few years Barrel Racing, Goat Tying and Reining. She has earned Provincial Year End and National Championships in many events and continues to show horses, especially enjoying the challenge of developing young Futurity horses to reach their potential. Tara spent 15 years with the light horse 4-H club, as a member and leader. She continues her support for the valuable program by judging shows and public speaking competitions as well as giving clinics.
From young, Tara and her family have driven and shown the family’s Belgian hitch. Derek and Tara now enjoy their own team at home.
She is a CHA Clinic Instructor certifying riding coaches across Canada and USA and she is the CHA Region 2 Director. She is also an AQHA Professional Horseman. Through Equine Canada she is a General Performance Judge and Western Coach and with EAGALA she is certified as an Equine Specialist on the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy team at Cloud 9 Ranch. She has taught many years at Horse 3 in Brandon and several times at the CHA International Conference, been a guest speaker on the Florida radio show "Horses In The Morning" as well as at various private events on topics such as Cancer, Life as a Woman and Adoption.
Tara’s passion is helping humans and horses to reach their full potential.

He was quite successful as a Heeler, Team Roping in both the MRCA and Heartland Rodeo Associations before taking a few years to pursue cutting. He is back to Roping and this time with sons to share it with! At Cloud 9 Ranch, Derek helps give horses confidence by taking them on the trails and getting them comfortable with ropes being thrown off of them. He also enjoys driving the Belgians.
